MoA: Vessels of Glass

Years ago I used to draw elemental themed pieces for my Vessels. Tons of them! But then I stopped. My story and characters have shifted in and out so often that it was difficult committing to drawing full-fledged sets such as this. For instance, I replaced my Fire Vessel for the third time now. However, as I look at all of these, I don't have any qualms with the characters I've chosen. Features of my story may change, but I believe these nine will be the rigid foundation that hold the novel's purity together, no matter the outcome. Or so I hope.

I sat on this idea for a long time, flipping between stained-glass and art nouveau. In the end I chose the former, since I feel it creates a more unified look when all placed together. The style also gives a sense of heroism or legend; the legend of mortals carrying the souls of their Creators. Each pose not only had to reflect the character's personality and relation to their element, but also complimenting or contrasting their opposite element (with the exception of Kari who has no opposite) while remaining unique to each individual. It gave me a chance to really ponder over each Vessel and understand which ones I understand clearly and which ones need more exploration (which in turn will help strengthen that aforementioned foundation). I actually worked on all of them at the same time from start to finish to ensure consistency and motivation. And now that they're done, I'll probably avoid these guys for a little bit
